Well, today I am celebrating. Yesterday morning from 10am-12pm I did my 4th step with my Pastor here at All God’s Children Metropolitan Community Church. The feeling I have right now is as if a weight has been lifted off my back. And there is also the understanding that I am just getting started with this process.
There were no visions, no bells ringing and no angels singing. But after completing my inventory I sat down on the futon in my apartment and listened to the silence. It was palpable. There was a comforting presence unlike anything I have ever felt.
The most wonderful thing I can relate to you is how powerful forgiveness is. We are forgiven–once and for all time. Though we are sick, we are forgiven. Though we are stubborn and willful, we are forgiven. Though we are and have been unworthy, we are forgiven.
Our minds interrupt that healing grace with, “But what about …”–no, we are forgiven. “Yea, but isn’t that …”–no, we are forgiven. “There’s no way …”–no, we are forgiven. And that’s all there is to say.
