Why is it that we alcoholics and addicts seem to be such great, emotive, supportive, nurturing, intelligent, warm, caring, loving, lovable people and yet flawed so fundamentally? And in our need–the depth of understanding between us reaches into me and it seems to me that addicts are really the “seekers” in a world gone mad. We seek to make sense of the world through intoxicating our senses and numbing the very attributes the world needs.
A power greater than–a power other than–or a power in and through–permeating the whole–always on tap–yet we can cut this resource off by our denial of it–our thinking that we are not a part of the whole. But we are all part of the greater whole–each of us provides something unique and without our contribution something intrinsic to the whole is missing.
The world needs each of us–just as we are–without being numb, but frightened at times, strong at times, disposable as we sometimes feel, fragile and cracking open as we are sometimes–the Power of the One seeps through cracks and crevices and we are filled in our emptiness. We are satisfied in the need that we supply.
Our hearts ache at times. They feel like they would break. We feel so helpless at times but we are eternally linked to the divine network of The Light. We can never be disconnected. We can never escape the filling as long as we are feeling.
